Wright completed her undergraduate
and masters studies at the New England
Conservatory, earning the prestigious
Chadwick Medal. She is currently a
Doctor of Musical Arts Candidate at
the University of Maryland, College
Park. Her principal teachers include
David Salness, Lucy Chapman, Bayla
Keyes, Jennifer Frautschi and Magdalena
Richter. She plays on a violin bow made
in 2000 by Paul Siefried generously on
loan from The Maestro Foundation.
Audrey Wright makes her BSO solo debut.
Philip Munds
A California native,
Philip Munds attended
the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music,
graduating in 1986
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
After graduation, he remained in the Bay
area and played for the San Francisco
Symphony, the San Francisco Opera and
Ballet orchestras, the Berkeley Symphony
and the Santa Cruz Symphony
Orchestra. In 1989 he moved east to play
with the United States Air Force Band
in Washington, D.C. While playing
Associate Principal Horn in the band,
he also performed extensively with the
Air Force Woodwind Quintet. In 1997,
Munds left the service and filled the
position of Assistant Principal Horn with
the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and
in 2004, was appointed Principal Horn
under Maestro Temirkanov. He currently
teaches at the University of Maryland.
He has recorded a CD of music for
horn and piano with pianist Bryan Rowe
called Spiorad.
Philip Munds last appeared with the
BSO as a soloist in June 2017, performing
Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1,
Marin Alsop, conductor.
Lisa Bergman
Performing orchestral

Bergman has been praised for her
“sweet sound” as a horn player (Miami
Herald). Before joining the Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra in the spring
of 2014, Bergman was a member
of the San Antonio Symphony, the
Knoxville Symphony, the New World
Symphony and performed regularly
with orchestras throughout the U.S.,
including the Indianapolis Symphony,
the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra,
the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and
the Kansas City Symphony. In addition
to performing, Bergman enjoys
teaching students of all ages, helping
them reach their potential on the horn
and enjoy making music. A native of
Kansas City, MO, Bergman holds a
Master of Music degree from Indiana
University and a Bachelor of Music
degree from Michigan State University.
Her principal teachers include Randy
Gardner, Michael Hatfield and Julie
Landsman. In her spare time she enjoys
being outdoors, biking, yoga classes,
cooking and enjoying a glass of wine
with family and friends.
Lisa Bergman last appeared with the

Austin Larson
Austin Larson
joined the Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra
as Third Horn in
2017 after holding the
Assistant Principal Horn position with
the Colorado Symphony in Denver for
three years. He previously held positions
with Symphony in C, the Verbier Festival
Orchestra in Switzerland and Spoleto
Festival USA Orchestra, and has also
performed with many other ensembles,
including the Philadelphia Orchestra,
Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati
Symphony and as Guest Principal Horn
with the Iceland Symphony.
Larson has compiled a substantial
competitive record both in the U.S. and
abroad, holding the rare distinction of
being one of only two people to ever win
First Prizes in both the University and
Professional Divisions of the International
Horn Competition of America, the
most prestigious competition for horn
players in North America, where he now
serves as a distinguished jury member
for future competitions. In 2017, Larson
became the first American to ever win
a prize in either the International Brass
Instruments Competition in Gdansk,
Poland or the Jeju International Brass
Competition Horn Division in South
Korea, finishing with the Second Prize
in both, the latter being the highest
prize awarded. Other competition wins
include the International Horn Society
Premier Soloist Competition, Yamaha
Young Performing Artists Competition,
Wisconsin Public Radio Young
Artists Competition and International
Competition “Citta di Chieri” in
Turin, Italy. He has also appeared as a
soloist at the Music for All Symposium,
International Horn Symposium,
Jeju International Wind Ensemble
Festival, Wisconsin Public Radio and with
orchestras in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
A native of Neenah, WI, Larson holds
degrees from the University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music and
the Curtis Institute of Music and his
teachers include Randy Gardner, Jennifer
Montone, Julie Landsman, Jeffrey Lang,
Duane Dugger, Elizabeth Freimuth,
Richard Deane, Douglas Hill, Bruce
Atwell and Donald Krause. A strong
believer in music advocacy, he has also
been involved with numerous charitable
organizations and has raised funds for
music scholarships both at the University
of Cincinnati and in the Northeast
Wisconsin area.
