She has also recently appeared with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra del Teatro Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste, Orquesta Sinfónica de Valdivia and Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás. Valentina Peleggi last appeared with the BSO in January 2017, conducting Rimsky- Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol. Valentina Peleggi Italian conductor Valentina Peleggi is Resident Conductor of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra and former Principal Conductor of their professional chorus. She won the APCA 18 OV E R T U R E / BSOmusic.org Prize in 2016 as Conductor of the Year from the Paulistan Society of Critics of Arts and was voted Young Talent of 2017 by readers of Brazil’s specialist music magazine Revista Concerto. In 2018, she took up a new three-year post in São Paulo as Guest Music Director at the Teatro São Pedro, specializing in Italian opera and conducting one production each season. In September 2018, she also began a two-year Mackerras Fellowship at English National Opera assisting on a wide range of repertoire University of Maryland Concert Choir The University of Maryland (UMD) Concert Choir comprises singers chosen by audition from across the College Park campus. Under the direction of Edward Maclary, the ensemble has established a national reputation for excellence in the performance of a wide range of symphonic literature. The UMD Concert Choir made its debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2013 under Music Director Marin Alsop in performances of Britten’s monumental War Requiem to mark the composer’s centenary. During the 2014 –15 season, the choir performed Mozart’s Mass in C Minor under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki. In 2016, the ensemble returned for widely hailed performances of Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem led by BSO Principal Guest Conductor Markus Stenz and in the spring of 2017 appeared with Alsop and the BSO for Arvo Part’s Credo and the Symphony of Psalms by Stravinsky. Their most recent collaboration with the BSO was Mozart’s Requiem in December 2017, also with Alsop.
