Leila Josefowicz’s
passionate advocacy
of contemporary
music for the violin
is reflected in her
diverse programming and enthusiasm for
performing new works. She frequently
collaborates with leading composers and
works with orchestras and conductors
at the highest level around the world.
In 2008 she was awarded a prestigious
MacArthur Fellowship, joining prominent
scientists, writers and musicians who
have made unique contributions to
contemporary life.
Highlights of Josefowicz’s 2017–18
season included concerts with the
Los Angeles Philharmonic; Royal
Concertgebouw Orchestra; and the
Iceland, Boston, Lahti and Finnish
Radio symphony orchestras, as well
as the National Symphony Orchestra.
Alongside pianist John Novacek, with
whom Josefowicz has enjoyed a close
collaboration since 1985, she performed
recitals in Reykjavik, Leeds, Chicago,
