He has also appeared in Mozart’ s Requiem with the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Modesto and Quad City symphony orchestras; in Michael Tippett’ s A Child of Our Time with the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park; in Beethoven’ s Missa Solemnis with the Richmond Symphony; and in Haydn’ s Creation and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with the Louisiana Philharmonic.
On opera stages, Dean has made many appearances with the legendary New York City Opera, with Los Angeles Opera, in Strasbourg and Berlin and with the Landestheater in Linz, Austria. Dean is currently the Music Department Chair and Associate Professor of Voice at The University of California, Los Angeles, and a member of the voice faculty at the Chautauqua Music Festival.
Michael Dean last appeared with the BSO in December 2009, performing Handel ' s Messiah, Edward Polochick, conductor.

Born in Baltimore, MD, February 15, 1949; now living in Baltimore
One of today’ s greatest composers, Baltimore native Christopher Rouse continually surprises us with the emotional range of his mesmerizing orchestral music. Early in his career, he was renowned for writing intricate, very fast and often extremely loud music, such as The Infernal Machine and Gorgon— what he called his“ wild style.”
