Concert Choir
Over the past decade the University of
Maryland Concert Choir has established
itself as one of the premier symphonic
choruses in the United States. Regular collaborations with the Baltimore Symphony
Orchestra in the Britten War Requiem, the
Mozart Mass in C minor, and most recently,
the Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem have
earned the ensemble acclaim from audiences
and critics alike. The performances
of Broadway’s Leading Men mark the second
time UMD Concert Choir has appeared
with the BSO SuperPops and Maestro
Jack Everly. The students who make up
the ensemble are chosen by audition from
within the School of Music as well as from
across the University’s many academic
disciplines. Under the direction of Edward
Maclary, the UMD Concert Choir strives
to meet the highest standards of professional music making while providing its
membership with a joyful educational and
social experience.
Choral music at the University of
Maryland has achieved a reputation for
excellence in performance and in diversity
of repertoire. Six full-time ensembles explore
the breadth and depth of the finest choral
literature throughout the academic year
and the summer. The program’s flagship
ensemble, the UMD Chamber Singers, has
toured throughout the world and is one of
America’s most highly honored collegiate
ensembles, having won multiple top prizes
in European competitions and having been
invited to appear at the 10th World Symposium on Choral Music, held in Seoul, Korea
in 2014. To learn more about the choral program at the University of Maryland, please

performing Brahms’ Ein deutsches
Requiem, Markus Stenz, conductor.
