Yan Pascal Tortelier
Yan Pascal Tortelier has collaborated with major orchestras throughout the world, including the London Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras, Orchestre de Paris, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Filarmonica della Scala Milan and orchestras in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Montreal. He has collaborated with the Melbourne Symphony, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, and the Hong Kong and Malaysian philharmonic orchestras among many others.
Highlights of recent seasons include conducting the orchestras in Pittsburgh, Dallas, Montreal, San Francisco and
Minnesota, and European performances with the Iceland, Royal Flemish, Lyon National and Bournemouth symphony orchestras. He has guest conducted the Royal Liverpool and BBC philharmonic orchestras, and returned to Australia to conduct in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
Mr. Tortelier has enjoyed a long association with Chandos Records, resulting in an extensive catalogue that includes award-winning cycles of the orchestral music of Debussy, Ravel( featuring his own orchestration of Ravel’ s Piano Trio), Franck, Roussel and Dutilleux. Recent releases include the Ravel piano concertos coupled with Debussy’ s Fantaisie and an entire disc of Stravinsky, both with pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
Rosalie OConnor
Mr. Tortelier began his musical career as a violinist; at 14, he won first prize for violin at the Paris Conservatoire and shortly thereafter made his debut as a soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Tortelier studied conducting with Franco Ferrara at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, and from 1974 to 1983, was associate conductor of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. He has held principal and principal guest conductor positions with the Ulster Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, where he currently holds the position of Guest Conductor of Honour, returning a number of times each season.
Yan Pascal Tortelier last appeared with the BSO in March 2014, conducting Sibelius ' s Symphony No. 1.
Augustin Hadelich
Highlights of violinist Augustin Hadelich’ s 2016 – 2017 season include return performances with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, the symphony orchestras of Colorado, Dallas, North Carolina, San Diego and St. Louis, as well as a tour of Germany and Spain with the Orquestra de Cadaqués / Catalonia. He debuts with the Dresden Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra and the WDR Radio Orchestra in Cologne among others.
Mr. Hadelich’ s recent and upcoming international appearances include the BBC Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra( where he was artist-in-residence in the 2015 – 2016 season), Danish National Symphony, Hong Kong, London and Malaysian philharmonics, Mozarteum Orchestra, São Paulo Symphony and a tour of China with the San Diego Symphony. Winner of a 2016 Grammy for his recording of Dutilleux’ s Violin Concerto,“ L’ arbre des songes,” with the Seattle Symphony, Mr. Hadelich’ s recent releases include violin concertos by Tchaikovsky and Lalo with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and an album of works for violin
