A passion for the past.
“I’ve been really interested in history ever since
I was a kid,” says BSO Bass Eric Stahl. And as
an adult, that interest evolved into the hobby of
Civil War reenacting.
“I started going to watch historical reenactments
in the mid-’90s. I was really impressed with the
extents of detail that the reenactors went to in
order to make it historically accurate,” says Stahl.
“I thought it would be just a bunch of guys playing
army, but it was so much more. I found it to be
eerily like time travel.”
For the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in 2011,
Stahl joined a regiment so that he could move from
the sidelines to the center of the simulated battles.
