Musicians, Staff and Fans
alike, Bolt for the BSO!
Bolt for the BSO is a running team that will represent the Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra for the fourth year in a row at the Baltimore
Running Festival on October 12. The team consists of musicians, supporters,
staff members, and fans who will give the BSO a running start
to the 2013–2014 season. Funds raised from Bolt for the BSO contribute
to the delivery of the BSO’s world-class artistry, affordable ticket pricing
and immersive education and community programs for all ages.
Pioneered by Cindy Renn, a BSO Governing Member, and the BSO’s development
staff, last year’s Bolt team had 150 runners who raised more than $60,000, contributing
to Bolt’s $125,000 fundraising total. This year, the team will be challenged to set their
own fundraising goal with individual pledges from each participant. Much more than
a fundraiser, Bolt has given fans the opportunity to engage with musicians and staff
outside of the Meyerhoff, getting involved with the BSO on a personal level.
Last year’s Bolt for the BSO events leading up to
the race gave runners the chance to get to know
the BSO’s musicians, as well as each other.
The pinnacle of the team’s spirit was centralized at the tent in the celebration village on
race day—all Bolt runners came together as
they walked to the starting line and cheered
each other on at the race’s end.
