Felix Mendelssohn composed the concert Overture (Op. 21) for William Shakespeare’s
A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1826, when he was just 17 years old. In 1842, only a few years
before his death, he wrote the incidental music (Op. 61) for a commission from King Frederick
William IV of Prussia, which includes the world-famous Wedding March.
