Donated by OrchKids Founder Marin Alsop

“ Wow , it ’ s beautiful !” exclaimed Jayden Moore , a rising star in the OrchKids program , as he opened the case of his brand-new viola . The instrument , crafted by Maike Buyle , had just made its way across the Atlantic from Brussels , hand carried by OrchKids Founder Marin Alsop .
" Music is such a connecting force ,” said Alsop . “ After my friend Maike Buyle hand-crafted a violin for OrchKids alumna Nema Robinson , she asked , ‘ who next ?’ and Jayden immediately came to mind . He ’ s such a thoughtful musician and a thoughtful person . I ’ m very proud of him ! And I feel like now we are really connecting people worldwide through music .”
Jayden ’ s stunning new viola will help him pursue music at the highest level as he enters high school and continues his studies with OrchKids and as one of 15 students in Peabody Preparatory ’ s Baltimore Washington Musical Pathways program .
