DAY 11 • San Gerardo de Dota • Morning Quetzal search Explore San Gerardo de Dota , resting in a pastoral valley carpeted with apple and peach trees . Early this morning , we ’ ll set out to spot the Resplendent Quetzal . This rare bird was sacred to the Maya , and considered to be an incredible achievement to spot by modern bird watchers . DAY 12 • San José Today , we explore San José . Begin at the Parque Nacional , which celebrates the country ’ s history . DAY 13 • Return to U . S . Transfer to the airport for your flight home , or begin a post-trip extension to Costa Rica ’ s Caribbean Coast : Tortuguero National Park .
