DAY 4 • Galápagos • Embark ship Fly to the Galápagos from Quito. Then, board our ship once we land in the islands where we’ ll stay for four nights. Our certified Galápagos naturalist Trip Experience Leader will be on hand to help us seek out the Island’ s rare wildlife. On shore, a gaudily-colored Sally Lightfoot crab may scuttle by your foot as you watch iguanas sunning on the sands. Meals: B, L, D | Galápagos Small Ship

DAY 8 • Disembark ship • Quito • Return to U. S. We’ ll bid farewell to our Galápagos ship and board our flight to return to Quito to begin our journey home to the U. S.

DAY 1 • Depart U. S. • Quito, Ecuador Fly to Quito, Ecuador. Upon arrival, your Trip Experience Leader or O. A. T. representative will meet you at the Quito airport and help you transfer to your hotel. NH Collection Quito Royal Hotel or similar
DAY 2 • Quito’ s Old Town • Intiñan equator museum Begin the day discovering the the old town charm of Quito, followed by a light Ecuadorian lunch. Then, we’ ll visit the Intiñan Museum, which sits directly on the equator.

DAY 5 • Galápagos cruise For the next four days, we’ ll explore the“ Enchanted Isles” aboard our small ship, on foot, and during Zodiac( inflatable motorized raft) excursions. We may see blue-footed and Nazca boobies, frigatebirds, pelicans, Galápagos doves, swallowtail and lava gulls, Darwin finches, and herons. We’ ll also marvel at sea lions and iguanas throughout our travels. Later, we’ ll sit down for a conversation about the Controversial Topic of illegal fishing in the Galápagos Islands. DAY 6 • Galápagos cruise As we cruise, we’ ll explore more of the wildlife of the Galápagos, much of which exists nowhere else on Earth. The absence of human predators makes the animals surprisingly tame, so we can view them up close during our hikes, while snorkeling, and aboard Zodiacs. DAY 3 • A Day in the Life of Tambillo school village • Home-Hosted Lunch Our A Day in the Life experience begins with a visit to a local school in Tambillo where we’ ll meet students and teachers. Our hosts will give us insights into the subjects taught at the school, the structure of the education system, and the local traditions that influence the curriculum. Then, we’ ll visit a local chagras for a Home-Hosted Lunch featuring an interaction with an Andean cowboy from the highlands of the Province of Pichincha.
