DAY 7 • Hué • Perfume River boat cruise • Meditation lunch with local nuns • GCF visit: Minh Tu Orphanage Tour the Citadel of Hué this morning, along with a boat cruise along the Perfume River. then continue to a Buddhist nunnery. DAY 8 • Overland to Hoi An • Thien Mu Pagoda Board a boat and cruise to Thien Mu Pagoda where we’ ll discover this temple’ s rich history. From there, drive to the coastal village of Hoi An. Along the way, stop at My Khe Beach— better known to Americans as China Beach.

DAY 11 • Cu Chi Tunnels • Viet Cong discussion Tour the Cu Chi Tunnels, a vast underground network that allowed the Viet Cong to control a large area near the former Saigon. Then, we’ ll delve deeper into what life is like for former Viet Cong fighters during a conversation that will examine the Vietnam War— or“ American War,” as it’ s referred to in Vietnam— and whether or not veterans are satisfied with the outcome. DAY 12 • Return to U. S. Depart early this morning to the airport for your return flights home.

DAY 3 • Hanoi • Cyclo-rickshaw ride • Water puppet demonstration Enjoy a cyclo-rickshaw ride through Hanoi’ s historic Old Quarter, with stops at the notorious“ Hanoi Hilton” and the John McCain memorial at Truc Bach Lake. This afternoon, visit the home of a local water puppet master for a private show and hands-on demonstration. Later, gather for a Welcome Dinner.

DAY 4 • A Day in the Life of Tho Ha Village • Optional Hanoi local life & food adventure Travel to rural Tho Ha Village today to experience A Day in the Life of a local family who earns their living by making rice paper. DAY 5 • Overland to Halong Bay • Overnight cruise Depart for Halong Bay, where we’ ll board our private boat for an overnight cruise. Spend our afternoon plying the bay’ s emerald waters, stopping to explore a grotto. Meals: B, L, D | Traditional Vietnamese boat |
DAY 9 • Hoi An • Optional Countryside Cruise & Street Food Experience tour Drive to Hoi An’ s Old Town where we’ ll embark on a walking tour. A well-known feature in this port town is its Japanese covered bridge, complete with its own temple and statuary. We’ ll amble through Hoi An’ s historic streets and observe the city’ s mossy houses, including the Phuc Kien Congressional House. The balance of the day is on your own, or you may choose to join our optional Countryside Cruise & Street Food Experience tour.

DAY 10 • Fly to Ho Chi Minh City( Saigon) Rise early to fly to Ho Chi Minh City( Saigon). Then embark on a city tour of Vietnam’ s largest city. During our tour, we’ ll see the city’ s long and complex history on full display: Centuries’ old Buddhist temples and buildings built by French colonists. Continuing on, we’ ll see the Catholic Cathedral of Notre Dame, completed in 1880 and said to stand on the site of an old pagoda. We’ ll then witness the majestic Post Office— also built in the late 19th century, it features a pair of enormous murals with maps of Vietnam as it was years ago. We will also drive by the former U.
