After breakfast , set out for Comuna 8 . Once considered one of the most dangerous comunas in the city , Comuna 8 is now a model example of Medellín ’ s transformation . While there , we ’ ll visit the Hill of Values — a Grand Circle Foundation site — for a hands-on activity prior to our community lunch . This afternoon , fly to Pereira .

DAY 7 • Montenegro • A Day in the Life of the Coffee Triangle
Experience A Day in the Life of a coffee farm in the town of Montenegro . Begin at the town market , where we ’ ll shop for ingredients for today ’ s lunch . Then we ’ ll board local Jeepaos ( Jeeps ) bound for Buenos Aires Farm , a family-owned coffee plantation . During our visit , we ’ ll enjoy a hands-on introduction to coffee growing and savor lunch with the farm ’ s owners .

DAY 8 • Salento • Cocora Valley This morning , travel to Salento , a 19th-century village perched on a plateau over the Quindío River where we ’ ll learn about the process of roasting coffee and witness local baristas making “ latte art ,” decorative patterns in the foam on espresso drinks . Then ride to the Cocora Valley in Jeepaos , colorfully decorated Jeeps , and take a guided hike near the cloud forest .
