ITINERARY
DAY 1 • Depart U. S. Depart for your overnight flight to Cape Town, South Africa.
DAY 2 • Arrive Cape Town, South Africa Upon arrival in Cape Town this afternoon, you’ ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. There, you’ ll meet your fellow travelers, including those on our optional Chobe National Park & Victoria Falls extension

DAY 3 • Explore Cape Town • Visit Table Mountain Begin the day with a cable-car ride to the top of Table Mountain, the city’ s iconic landmark. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ ll set off on a city tour of Cape Town including the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. We’ ll also visit the District Six Museum, where we’ ll learn about the legacy of the South African apartheid regime. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 4 • Explore Cape Winelands • Home-Hosted Lunch
Explore the lush valleys of the Cape Winelands, South Africa’ s largest winemaking region with grape cultivation dating back to the 1600s. Enjoy a Home-Hosted Lunch in the quaint farming village of Pniel, followed by a visit to one of the local wine estates for a tour of the wine cellar and a wine-tasting.

DAY 5 • Discover Cape Peninsula Explore the Cape Peninsula, a scenic stretch of coastline jutting out into the Atlantic that is home to pristine beaches, towering cliffs, and lush forests. Highlights include the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach, a rugged coastal area that is home to a large colony of African penguins.

DAY 6 • Fly to Windhoek, Namibia Fly to Windhoek, Namibia’ s vibrant capital. An afternoon walking tour will reveal Namibia’ s colonial past, especially at Christuskirche, the 500-seat German-Lutheran cathedral built in 1907 sitting in the middle of a traffic island in the heart of the city.

DAY 7 • Overland to Sossusvlei We’ ll depart Windhoek and head west into the Namib, the world’ s oldest desert. Sossusvlei is a flat, dry clay pan in a corner of the Namib Desert encircled by towering red-orange sand dunes covering thousands of square miles. Along the way, we’ ll make a brief stop in the mining village of Klein Aub. Later, we’ ll enjoy a sundowner drive into the desert before returning to our lodge for dinner.

DAY 8 • Sossusvlei Dunes & Deadvlei • Sesriem Canyon
Early this morning, we’ ll head into Namib-Naukluft Park for an up-close visit to the dunes of Sossusvlei at sunrise. We’ ll also visit Deadvlei, an ancient white clay bed littered with hundreds of sun-blackened camel-thorn trees. This afternoon, visit Sesriem Canyon, a narrow gorge carved by the waters of the Tsauchab River over 15 million years.

DAY 9 • Optional Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride • Overland to Swakopmund
You can rise extra early to join an optional hot-air balloon ride to witness the sunrise while you float high above the world’ s oldest and driest desert. Later, we make our way to Swakopmund. Nestled between the desert and the sea, Swakopmund resembles a romantic Bavarian village and is infused with Old World charm.
