DAY 9 • Antarctic Peninsula Region • South Shetland Islands
Continue to explore this unspoiled wilderness with your Expedition Team. You might board Zodiacs bound for an island to hike along the shore. Upon landing, you may encounter colonies of penguins. Your Expedition Team will also watch for rare plant species that can sometimes be found in the warmer soil here.

Follow in the wake of bold explorers as you cross the Drake Passage— the famously riotous gateway to Antarctica.
DAY 10 • Antarctic Peninsula Region • South Shetland Islands
Depending on conditions, you may happen upon“ penguin highways” carved into the snow. Long-tailed gentoos form this delicate infrastructure as they waddle between the sea and their cliffside rookeries. You may also notice impressive mountains and flocks of seabirds overhead. Onboard our ship, the Expedition Team may lead informative discussions on everything from marine life to scenic photography.

DAY 11 • Antarctic Peninsula Region • South Shetland Islands
As your ship cruises, you might witness mountain peaks, seals, and penguins hunting for fish. You may have the opportunity to ride Zodiacs near icebergs— many of which are larger than most expedition ships— to marvel at their jagged angles and frozen coves. Your Expedition Team will offer even more insights into Antarctica’ s ecology, wildlife, and history.

DAY 12 • Drake Passage Bid farewell to Antarctica as you begin your journey back to Ushuaia across the Drake Passage. If it is safe to do so, your Expedition Team may invite you to the lounge to share some final insights into the discoveries you’ ve made.

DAY 13 • Drake Passage Savor your final day onboard as you complete your Drake Passage crossing, enjoying lectures from your Expedition Team and Trip Experience Leader as you cruise.

DAY 14 • Return to U. S. Disembark the ship and transfer to the airport to board your flight to Buenos Aires, where you’ ll connect for your flight back to the U. S. Or begin your Iguassu Falls: Thundering Cascades of Argentina & Brazil post-trip extension.
