DAY 9 • Yagua indigenous community • Amazon boat excursion
This morning, visit with members of the local Yagua community to learn more about this indigenous people’ s way of life. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat excursion on the Amazon, in search of pink dolphins, sloths, and other exotic native fauna. We’ ll also have the chance to fish for piranha, the toothed predatory fish that is a staple of the local diet.

DAY 10 • Rain forest canopy walk • Indigenous Maijuna community visit
Join an elder of the indigenous Maijuna tribe on a walk through a rain forest canopy, for an unforgettable look at an elevated part of the forest that few travelers get to see. Later, learn about the Maijuna community’ s camera trapping conservation program, then visit one of their communities at Sucusari, where we’ ll learn how special stingless bees are raised to bring income to the village.

DAY 11 • A Day in the Life of Indiana village • Sunset boat ride • Caiman watching at night
Rise early if you’ d like for a birdwatching excursion in the rain forest. Then, spend A Day in the Life of the remote Amazon village of Indiana. Visit a local market, school( when in session), enjoy lunch with locals from the community, and join a shaman for a demonstration of how local plants are grown and used for medicine and other purposes. Later, enjoy a sunset boat ride on the river. After an included Farewell Dinner, you may choose to walk to a lake near your lodge tonight in search of nocturnal caimans.

DAY 12 • Monkey Island • Return to U. S. Visit Monkey Island, a rescue and rehabilitation center where we’ ll meet free-roaming monkeys that have been orphaned or abandoned by the illegal animal trade. Then, begin your return journey home, or fly to La Paz to begin your Bolivia’ s Culture & Landscapes: La Paz to the Uyuni Salt Flats post-trip extension.
