Embark on a discovery walk with a local guide to explore Fanjeaux’ s winding cobblestone streets and stop to meet local artisans in their shops. Later, enjoy time at leisure in picturesque Carcassonne. Or, join our optional tour to a chocolate factory.

DAY 11 • Carcassonne • A Day in the Life of a French wine domaine
Journey to a local wine domaine to spend A Day in the Life of a wine producer. Your visit to the boutique vineyard includes a special lunch typical of the harvest season. We’ ll also have the opportunity to create our own wine blend to take home.

DAY 12 • Train ride to Lyon Transfer to Lyon today aboard a TGV, a high-speed train that can travel at speeds up to 200 miles per hour.

DAY 13 • Lyon • Local foods of Lyon tour Discover why Lyon is considered France’ s culinary capital on a food tour. We’ ll meet with the owner of a bouchon( Lyonnaise restaurant) and sample local delicacies, including saucisson( sausage).

DAY 15 • High-speed train to Paris • Paris discovery walk
Travel to Paris via high-speed train. Upon arrival, take the Metro to Le Marais and set off on a walking tour of this historic district.

DAY 16 • Paris • Boat ride along the Seine Hop on the Metro to enjoy a discovery walk through one of your Trip Experience Leader’ s favorite districts in Paris. Afterwards, you’ ll have free time to explore on your own.

DAY 17 • Return to U. S. Transfer to the airport for your flight home. Or, take a train to Avignon to begin our The Best of Provence: Avignon & Aix-en-Provence post-trip extension.

DAY 14 • Lyon • World War II Resistance walking tour
Delve into Lyon’ s role as capital of the French Resistance during World War II on a walking tour. You’ ll learn about some of the key figures of the period and stroll through Lyon’ s traboules, the secret passageways used by Resistance fighters to escape the Gestapo.
