Shhhhhh…
girl,
just soak in the loneliness.
Let it completely cover you,
cease your struggles.

Accept your silent solitude
for what it is—
The rejection of a world
too cruel to care
The innocent ignorance of those
too busy to think—
Not even the bare tolerance
of your existence is allowed.
Or perhaps, it was you who was too cruel.
Perhaps the world is finally taking its revenge.
It’s not like you’ve ever shown you were more than
just another faceless body
stomping on the remains of those
Life has left behind.
Those too weak,
too shy,
too unused to dealing
with the heartbeats that surround them
and manipulating them to create a perfect hole
in which they can
find themselves.
Burrowing themselves deep within the hearts around,
extending their spiky limbs,
ensuring they cannot be removed without pain—
Ensuring their departure is one felt all over.
That with each tug,
a tear is dropped.
Until the flood threatens to spill,
and they are drawn back within the
comforting embrace of habit.
But you’ve failed to do that.
You’ve forgotten the way the world works,
and so now the world has forgotten you.
And so,
They’ve left you adrift.
And all that’s left to consider is
whether or not you will
drift towards the dark shores
where Madness beckons.
Can you hear his call?
Will you heed his call?
After all, it’s not like the world matters anyway.
