One Shot
Morgan Boyd
It goes down the same
as the thousand before…
your never-ending spree
of death and violence
and hate
is gonna tie your own rope
Hey, come out and play
-The Offspring
Hit the alarm clock
While the coffee brews, watch the news
Desensitized from shock
This isn’t the wild west
People aren’t just statistics, this is sickness
Can’t count the amount of deaths
From gun violence
Kids’ access to firearms is alarming
This nation needs an ambulance not background checks
Domestic abuse, suicides
Without all the shoot-outs, would more people live to tell about
Genocides and homicides worldwide
We can’t stand to the side
Open fire, misfire, crossfire, backfire
War is always glorified—who is on the winning side?
Gun control advocating cannot be overplayed
Racial tensions are no invention we need to pay attention
You can’t point fingers holding a hand grenade
