SHERRY KISVER DDC-LOGISTICS

THERE are now

13 teams working under Logistics . Each team member is full of excitement and energy moving forward into the year . I love speaking with members and hearing the progress being made in their program areas . We are a Team , often overlapping but always collaborating . I could not be prouder and constantly amazed at their neverending support . The areas now include : Culinary Assistants , Computer Services , Diversity , Human Resources , Information Services , Materials , Public Affairs , Publications , Legal , and Staff Liasons , for CT , New Jersey , New York , and Vermont . The team ’ s hard work ethics has always exceeded my expectations in projects and has often succeeded in challenges to reach goals . I am so proud to be the DDC of Logistics and will always support the team . Each member has made a difference to the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary . Each member is a piece of the puzzle that when completed , the satisfaction of our accomplishments makes a major dent or success in what we do for the Coast Guard .
Each area has a specific mission to support the Coast Guard . Some staff positions are directly working with the Coast Guard and their missions , while others are supporting factors that indirectly have influence and results .
We are always working with different agencies on missions to the public . I like to use the word
“ harmony ,” within our workforce . If you ever watch a conductor of a symphony you notice how he / she gently sways the baton and brings together all the instruments in harmony . They are individuals who when working together create the greatest musical symphony .
We will always support the Coast Guard following the Commandant ’ s mission statement . Many of us who work at the Sectors and Stations have found extra meaningful tasks to support the Coast Guard . As Admiral L . Fagan , Commandant stated , “ Tomorrow looks different . So will we .” Short but full of power . We could run a day long class on interpretation . Always new opportunities . Doors open each and every day and the team welcomes the challenges .
I believe that post COVID we are ready , willing , and able to go forward in all program areas to support the Coast Guard . I do think that the zoom meetings kept us closer in touch and certainly happier by putting a face to a name . we started to think outside the box and came up with new ideas and were able to meet more often to collaborate . My two cents !
I have in the past , present , and hopefully in the future been accused of being “ Too Positive a Person ,” which is probably the best compliment I have ever received . The alternative can bring much undue stress . Along with that is a word I will always live up to . It was taught to me by Commodore Vincent T . Pica . STICKTUIDNESS .
