Anne plans to work in the galley at Sector Long Island Sound , sharing duties every other week with another new AUXCA trainee , Elizabeth Eynon ( Stratford Flotilla ), on
Mondays . Tuesday through Friday , the galley is staffed by four other AUXCAs : Christine Howe ( Guilford Flotilla ), in her first year as an AUXCA1 , Arthur Briscoe , AUXCA1
( Milford Flotilla ), Timothy Mulherin , AUXCA1-IT ( Milford Flotilla ) and Thomas Violante , AUXCA1-IT ( Milford Flotilla ), ADSO-CA for Sector Long Island Sound North .
“ I ’ m going to see if I can work it up to a couple of days each month working for people at Sector ,” Anne said .
Elizabeth Eynon ( Stratford Flotilla ) also spent the April 23-24 weekend ge�ing her AUXCA qualification checked off and learning to cook the Coast Guard way .
She joined the Auxiliary because she went to a boat show where people from the Auxiliary were in a�endance .
“ They emphasized the training that I could get ,” she said . “ At the time , I was ge�ing close to retirement and was thinking about ge�ing into boating . I figured I could learn all about boating from the Auxiliary . So I joined and did a fair amount of training , earning my AUXOP device , instructor , vessel examiner , program visitor .” She entered the AUXCA program because “ I wanted to define what I ’ m doing now a li�le more than the broader interests . And I narrowed it down to pursuing an AUXCA qualification .”
Elizabeth said she is very interested in supporting the Coast Guard side and worked at Sector Long Island Sound in the harbor safety officer program and some marine events .
“ I ’ ve noticed that the culinary side is a big part of what Auxiliarists can do at Sector , she said . “ I know most of the AUXCAs there , so when this training opportunity came up , I was interested .”
