Although most of the firefighting was performed by land-based fire apparatus and personnel, the neighboring communities of Norwalk, Darien and Greenwich sent boats to help battle the fire (Stamford's own fire boat was out of service with a mechanical problem), and a New York City fire boat based in City Island also assisted. It was reported that the owner was able to escape from the boat.
