N THE AFTERNOON OF 3 OCTOBER 2020, a 24-foot Sea Ray

power boat, which had just refueled on the West Branch of Stamford Harbor in Connecticut experienced an explosion in its engine space, caught fire, and drifted eastward across the harbor ablaze. Although the Captain and his passenger safely evacuated the boat, the Sea Ray, soon crossed the West Branch and landed on the western shoreline of the Harbor Point area of Stamford where the burning vessel set aflame and damaged three other boats moored at the transient dock. The Sea Ray, which was powered by a gasoline fuel inboard engine, sank and was declared a total loss.
