In conjunction with Commander Elizabeth Young, Past Director of the Auxiliary, and Division 14 the Kids Don’t Float Program was started in 2008 at the Tottenville Marina. The Program is based on the honor system and Division 14 regularly checks to ensure that the vests are always available and in good condition.

“If we can save one child or even one injury of a child, it is worth it, even if we end up losing life jackets,” said Frank Ferraiuolo, one of the main contributors to the project. “Safety is always number one,” said Sherry Kisver. “This station is a reminder to adults to make sure their child is always wearing a life jacket – and one that fits them – before they reach to boat.”
