There are usually two or three Ice Cutters stationed on the Hudson River all winter. Though we are not tasked to take pictures of the cutters, we often do and then ask the ODO to forward them to the crew. It is appreciated.
We do contact the bridge and ask if there is any tasking they would like us to address. This AUXAIR facility is capable of flying at 200kts and can see far up and down the river. Sometimes we are requested to look for traffic at specific points on the river and report back.
