The 2017 Progressive New York Boat Show was held on January 25th to the 29th and proved to be a very successful event for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. With the setup being conducted by Flotilla 014-05-04 on Tuesday the 24th, more than 50 volunteers from Divisions 05, 06, 07, 10, 11, 13, 14, & 22 covered the days spanning the Show.
From the ribbon-cutting ceremony by Governor Cuomo to to open the show to the closing bell on Sunday the Auxiliary passed out several thousand pieces of literature to more than 800 men, women, and children of the boating community. Requests were taken for classes from Boating Safety to Seamanship and Navigation and were filtered through to the appropriate locations.
All in all the Auxiliary's "Safe Boating" message continues to be well received, reaching the public in a positive way.
