Over The Bow Volume 73 Issue 1 Winter 2015 | Page 62

Welcome Aboard!

As the new District Staff Officer - Publications (DSO-PB) and Chief Editor of OVER THE BOW (OTB), I am honored to accept the responsibility and challenge of keeping the District informed and interested.

First off, I would like to thank Robert Baird II and his staff for all of the hard work they have put in over the years with OTB. Not many people realize the time and effort it takes to create a quality publication.

To introduce myself, I am an Auxiliary Public Affairs Specialist I who has been managing National Social Media. I am also a new attorney, AuxOp, and somewhat technologically savvy. I enjoy helping fellow Auxiliarists get recognized for their hard work. It is one of the few ways we can say, "Thank You!" for a job well done.

Hopefully, you found this issue of OTB to be informative and interesting. Our publications team utilized the Joomag electronic publications software for design and editing. It allows us to write, edit, and even do graphics work with one centralized online program.

One of my goals as the new DSO-PB is to increase the quality and professionalism of OTB so we can match the the high standards of the National USCG Auxiliary Navigator magazine. Many hours were poured into creating this issue with editing, graphics design, layout planning, and more. However, these hours are worth nothing if you, the reader, do not find it informative or interesting.

Please send me USCG Auxiliary related articles or photos that you find interesting. Give me feedback on how you liked OTB or what changes you would like to see to make it better.

Help me help you or another fellow Auxiliarist get deserved recogntion.

Respectfully,

James J. Chin
