Pilar noted that the veterans, all from the Bronx area, returned from their ride on Long Island Sound expressing how happy they were and enthusiastic that all of the volunteers made them feel welcome. Many wrote in the Yacht Club guest book how glad they were to be invited and felt really special to be taken care of by the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary.
