Janina Messerlian proudly follows in the footsteps of her grandparents and her father, carrying forward the standards, care and craftsmanship that have defined Baxter’ s Fine Jewelry for decades. Her inherited passion for jewelry led her to become a GIA Graduate Gemologist. The expertise she gained in that program is shared freely with clients to help them make confident, informed decisions about diamonds and gemstones.
She was recently named a Jewelers of America 20 Under 40 award recipient. This award recognizes rising professionals who exemplify leadership skills and a strong commitment to the jewelry industry. Her impact is evident in the experiences she builds through events at Baxter’ s, her consistent digital storytelling, and her leadership in professional organizations, including her role on the Women’ s Jewelry Association board.

Alongside her work at Baxter’ s, she created Arzhani, her own jewelry line with a name drawn from her Armenian heritage that translates to“ worthy.” The pieces are more than just jewelry; they encourage confidence and celebrating yourself with or without a milestone. Janina is part of a new generation setting a higher standard, combining real technical expertise with modern storytelling, and leading the industry forward with credibility, heart and momentum.

As an eighteen-year-old right out of high school, Kathy Orovitz’ s first full-time job in the financial sector was on the teller line at her local bank. From day one, she was motivated by the many ways a strong, people-first financial institution can benefit families and communities alike— and she used that motivation as the foundation to build her outstanding career.
Kathy has spent her career striving to lead with empathy. She looks for every chance to empower the people around her— and to create opportunities for them to grow, much like she did herself, well beyond their current roles.

Today, Kathy serves as the president and chief executive officer of Navigant Credit Union, the largest member-owned credit union in Rhode Island. Kathy’ s leadership and unique vision have helped Navigant Credit Union continue to advance its more than 110-year-old mission of improving the financial well-being of the families, businesses and communities it serves across the state.
