For more than twenty years, Jennifer Thayer Karl has been a cornerstone of the Providence Country Day School’ s art department, serving as department chair for the past six.
Deeply invested in her students, she says teaching feels less like a job and more like a shared creative journey.“ I am so invested in the success of these students and their experiences that it’ s become part of who I am,” she says.“ When students come into my classroom, they know I’ m on an artistic adventure with them.” Inspired by the female mentors who shaped her, she hopes to pay it forward.

That supportive artistic environment is also why Jen chose PCD for her two daughters. She’ s equally enthusiastic about PCD’ s new arts center, opening this fall.“ The space is designed for artists and performers, and it shows our belief in the power of the arts to shape lives, challenge minds and bring people together.”
