rossroads Rhode Island, the state’ s leading provider of housing and related services for people experiencing homelessness, celebrated full occupancy of its Summer Street Apartments late last year thanks to the extraordinary leadership, coordination and determination of a team of outstanding women.
Over the course of only 47 working days, the team successfully executed the most complex housing transition in Crossroads’ history as they moved nearly 200 formerly homeless adults into new one-bedroom apartments at what is now the largest permanent supportive apartment building in New England. Balancing complex logistics with the agency’ s core values of safety, respect and effectiveness, the Crossroads team worked tirelessly to deliver a fresh start and housing stability to its Summer Street residents. Their work serves as a powerful reminder that leadership isn’ t measured just by a job title, but also in lives changed— one move-in, one lease signed and one new beginning at a time.
Summer Street By the Numbers:
• 176 + formerly homeless adults moved into permanent supportive housing
• 352 + boxes packed
• 400 + totes of personal belongings moved
• 350 + bags of laundry cleaned
• 4,000 + leasing-related signatures secured
