By Norris Pritam E lected third time, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh took oath of office in Raipur on 12th December 2013 and began a new chapter in the development of Chhattisgarh. A popular leader, Dr Raman Singh is known for his innovative policies and leadership that covers all sections of society. His humane nature has won hearts all over Chhattisgarh and the result is for all to see. Dr Raman Singh wanted to be a doctor and helped the poor. But due to being under age he couldn’t get admission in MBBS despite clearing the Pre Medical Test. But he is realising his dream by providing top health care in the State. Dr Singh is not just sportsman at heart he has also been a good volleyball player in his youth. As a rare combination of a scholar and a sportsperson, Dr Singh is leading Chhattisgarh on the road to a prosperous and welfare State. ResouRce-Rich state Located in the centre-east of the county, the tenth-largest state in India Chhattisgarh is a resource- rich state. It is a major source of electricity and steel for the country, accounting for 15% of the total steel produced. Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest-developing states in India. Chhattisgarh is a predominantly an agriculture state. And agriculture plays an important role in the State’s economy. There fore Government has given top priority to economic betterment of the farmers as the major chunk of the state population depends on agriculture. There has been significant increase in agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries sectors in the last 14 years due to well laid out planning and execution of policies by the State government. The State calls these achievements as “14 Bemisaal saal” or 14 unparalleled years. The development and progress in the State justifies the apt expression. industrial expansion: A new and effective Industrial Policy has helped set up about 15,000 small and medium industries in the State. About 4 lakh Uninterrupted power supply, improved rail network and peace has attracted foreign investment for the State. 46 OutlOOk 26 February 2018
