Uttar Pradesh - rising state
prominent bus stations are being built
under the Public Private Partnership
(PPP) model. On occasion of Raksha
Bandhan women travelled free for
the first time on the buses of the state
transport department. A toll-free
helpline number 1800 121 5707 is
functional for contacting the Public
Works Department(PWD) in case of
emergency.
Health at Priority:
The government has taken the required
steps for setting up an All India Institute
of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in
Gorakhpur for which central clearance
has been obtained and MOU signed.
Eight new medical colleges, has been
sanctioned. Required funding has also
been sanctioned for building eight super
specialty departments in Kanpur and
Agra medical colleges.
The 200 bed maternity and child
referral hospital in Dr Ram Manohar
Lohia Medical Institute is being
developed as a centre of excellence. The
institute now also provides the facility of
kidney transplant.
The facility of e-hospitals is being
introduced and implemented in all
the government medical colleges and
hospitals. To provide quality medicines
at reasonable rates Amrit Pharmacies
have been set up in all the medical
colleges. In six divisional level and
four district level hospitals dialysis
facilities are available for the patients.
In addition to this 150 advanced life
support ambulances have been made
functional. Under the Pradhan Mantri
Matra Vandana Yojana conditional
maternity benefits program is being
offered regularly across the state.
Following a rigorous campaign under
the Indradhanush Scheme, 77 percent
children have been immunized. In
district men’s hospitals in 68 districts,
‘Nutritional Rehablitation Centers’
have been set up in the state. Burn care
centres have been set up in 62 district
women hospitals and the Government
Medical Colleges. 150 ambulances
equipped with life support system have
been provided to the district hospitals
till now.
‘Mukhbir Yojana’ has been started
to check illegal abortions, sex
determination test and female foeticide.
Institutes, individuals and centers will
be facing legal action for indulging or
abetting such acts.
Promoting the Cultural
Heritage:
Uttar Pradesh has its own significance
for its rich cultural heritage and religious
history. It has the most fascinated
destinations which are not only famous
nationwide but stage a worldwide
popularity. For Hindus it’s the land of
Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and Lord
Shiva so the importance of Ayodhya,
Mathura & Vrindavan and Varanasi
can not be ignored. Varanasi also has a
Buddhist connection. Be it theTaj Mahal
in Agra or the Imambaras in Lucknow
or the water falls in Bhundelkhand and
Mirzapur, Etawah Lion safari, are some
of the well known tourist de stinations.
UP Government in its first year has
taken various initiatives to promote the
rich cultural heritage by inviting more
and more tourists from across the world
to the state.
