Student EASM Experience
“( EASM, the place to deepen your international insights)”
Dublin, Ireland( 2015) and Warsaw, Poland( 2016)- Ben de Boer
The European Association for Sport Management( EASM) is founded in 1993. Each year they organize an European sport management congress. During this congress there are speakers and researchers from all over the world to share the most recent sport management developments. Next to this congress there is also a student seminar. In 2015, Dublin I’ ve competed this student seminar by myself. It was an amazing experience to cooperate with international students on a real life case. In just a few days you work very hard together to create a splashing final presentation. For our case we had to make a plan for the Gaelic Games. This plan had to promote the Gaelic Games all over the world. Our idea made it to the qualifying rounds. After this we were allowed to present the plan at the congress. The jury judged our plan as the best by rewarding us the first place. An unique experience.
EASM has deepen my international insights. Internationally, I think we can learn a lot more from each other than we do now. It also creates a nice network. In 2016 the EASM congress was held again, this time in Warsaw. I was there too, but this time as student representative. Instead of competing I was now attending the congress and seminar. I highly recommend students with international ambitions to attend and compete at the EASM congress. In 2017 the congress will be held in beautiful Bern. Luckily next to the seminar and congress there is enough time to socialize in and explore the city!
EASM( 5-8 September 2017)
Bern and Magglingen, Switzerland- Are you next?
As Ben mentioned above, the EASM congress in 2017 will be held in Bern and Magglingen. Sport professionals will all come together at the centre of Europe and the heart of Switzerland from 5 till 8 September 2017. You too?
This year EASM will be held for the 25th time. The Institute of Sport Science of the University of Bern and the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen want to create a special edition, for it is a jubilee. Both partners play a key role in the development of sport management studies in Switzerland.
They will do their utmost to offer an interesting programme, establish network platforms to connect with colleagues and representatives from international sport organisations and companies as well as to provide opportunities to meet and make friends.
Switzerland, and Bern in particular, is not only well known for its rich cultural history and mountains, but also for cheese and chocolate. The organising committee will make sure all participants will have the opportunity to experience this“ Swissness” and to enjoy such delights alongside the official programme of the conference.
