International networks
The School of Sport Studies actively participates in a multitude of networks focused on different facets of sports. Our dean is currently a member of the Executive Board of the European Network of Sport Science, Education & Employment( ENSSEE). ENSSEE has been selected by the European Union to be the thematic network for research, training, and the study of qualification and employment in the field of sport. The Physical and Active Lifestyle( PAL) programme arose as a joint programme between six European partners ranging from Portugal to Lithuania.
Often the School plays a leading role in the formation of networks, examples being the European Association of Sport Management( EASM) and Innovation, Integration and Implementation of Physical Education( I3PE). I3PE annually organises Intensive Programs with its member universities. EASM yearly hosts conferences focused on current developments and challenges in sports management. These conferences have taken place in various cities, such as Istanbul, San Marino and Budapest. Our coordinator internationalisation for SGM is the current Secretary General of the EASM Board and the EASM office is also located in Groningen until 2017.
Operating in these international networks open up opportunities for our students. We have various contacts among a wide range of universities with different specialties.
