International networks

The School of Sport Studies actively participates in a multitude of networks focused on different facets of sports . Our dean is currently a member of the Executive Board of the European Network of Sport Science , Education & Employment ( ENSSEE ). ENSSEE has been selected by the European Union to be the thematic network for research , training , and the study of qualification and employment in the field of sport . The Physical and Active Lifestyle ( PAL ) programme arose as a joint programme between six European partners ranging from Portugal to Lithuania .
Often the School plays a leading role in the formation of networks , examples being the European Association of Sport Management ( EASM ) and Innovation , Integration and Implementation of Physical Education ( I3PE ). I3PE annually organises Intensive Programs with its member universities . EASM yearly hosts conferences focused on current developments and challenges in sports management . These conferences have taken place in various cities , such as Istanbul , San Marino and Budapest . Our coordinator internationalisation for SGM is the current Secretary General of the EASM Board and the EASM office is also located in Groningen until 2017 .
Operating in these international networks open up opportunities for our students . We have various contacts among a wide range of universities with different specialties .
