After seven seasons, in 2012, Discovery channel dropped the TV show that made 39-year-old Edward Michaels “Bear” Grylls famous across the planet. This year, the intrepid British adventurer started a show on NBC, “Get Out Alive”, a reality series with 10 teams competing to win a $500,000 prize, while avoiding inevitable elimination in New Zealand’s South Island. He also launched an eponymous Survival Academy in the Scottish Highlands, open to anyone willing to learn how to stay alive in the wilderness.
