24 ART| JASON KILTHAU Jason Kilthau is a digital artist from the small town of Prineville, Oregon. In 2015, with little knowledge on becoming an artist for a living, or any formal artistic edu- cation beyond a few entry level college courses, Jason challenged himself to create a digital art piece each week and post it online. Doing that helped to create an online following through Facebook where people from around the United States have reached out showing interest in owning their own unique art created by Jason. This led to some of his first actual business through commissions doing things from full art pieces, to logos, and even album covers. NOV/DEC 2018 25 FILM| LOW PRESSURE Directed by: Pete Alport Produced by: Oregrown In 2016 Jason setup an online shop to allow for indi- viduals interested to purchase artwork through a third party, and for the next year he continued to create new art and get more commission work while also improving in skill. By the time 2018 came around Jason had been reached by another third party distributor who wanted to put his art on their products to sell through their site. This was a major boost to his confidence and was was just one more step in the direction Jason wanted to go with his art. A little bit later in 2018 Jason attended his first Comic Convention where he exhibited as an artist to further get his name out their and sell artwork. Jason has made connections with individuals for future work and with companies willing to help push his art through their products, as well exhibiting at conventions in Oregon and Washington when able. This is just the start for Jason, he has many more plans set in motion that will come to fruition in time. Presented with an abundant and unlimited supply of untapped locations, the Low Pres- sure crew set its sights on taking both unknown riders as well as household names to explore non-chairlift accessed volcanoes, burned forests, mountain ranges, and other unique landscapes only found in Oregon. For an entire season, the crew learned what it takes to dedicate an entire season to- wards a unique project, ride first descents, juggling full-time jobs and battling a ten-week drought that ended with a ten-week storm cycle. Pushing themselves beyond previ- ous experiences, they split boarded hundreds of miles, earned more sunrises than they thought possible and produced incredible footage. The film stars include Jonny Sisco, Will Dennis, Dru Brownrigg, Marissa Krawczak and Destry Serna. Filming started in early November and ended the first day of June. The all Oregon backcountry movie was filmed and edited by Pete Alport. The 2017-18 winter presented some filming challenges; winter started off with a bang, fizzled for much of mid-winter then came roaring back in late winter. The crew went out to film anytime the conditions allowed and you can see the results in unique features and locations. It was a winter that filmers needed to be on point, thankfully Pete is known for his knowledge and predictions of backcountry conditions. If you missed the sold out Tower Theater showing, a free screening of Low Pressure will take place at 10 Barrel Brewing East Side on November 10th.
