The best thing about a photo issue is bringing ten different personalities together. Each photogra-
pher has their own style and own idea of how they expect a photo to turn out. Each could be shoot-
ing the same subject, but the photo would end up looking different. Photographers are usually
their own biggest critic. It’s only when others get stoked on a particular photo that they get the
feeling that the job is done.
Richard Hallman captured this iconic photo near the top of Mt Hood. The annual summer solstice
event is loosely organized at best, but the celebration of summer’s longest day brings mountain
friends together to make a lifetime of memories.
