You are from a well known ski family, at what age were you first put on skis? First time I was on skis was in my dad’ s backpack while he was skiing, then around 3 or 4 years old I got my own pair of sticks.
Do you remember anything from the early days of your skiing? Yeah I remember tagging along with the MBSEF snowboarders before they had a ski program. I also remember lots of sour patch kids and scouring for quarters to play arctic thunder( old school arcade snowmobile video game).
Any funny stories you can tell us about those days? Yeah there was quite a few good stories! One of my favorite stories has to be being late for our slopestyle run on a stormy day and all of the sudden the chair slows to a stop right next to the top of the slope course, people at the top of the course yelled over to us that we had to drop so me and Hudson( Knoll) bailed off the chair as it sagged down to a stop and made it in time for our runs. It was spur of the moment timing.
At what age did you feel like skiing could take you places? Probably around 16 or 17. I was transitioning into backcountry skiing from park and finding my groove in what I wanted to do on skis.
Who are some of the skiers you hung with at Bachelor as a kid? I was skiing with a lot of snowboarders when I was a grom, the Warbington brothers, Logan, Fergie and Blake. Then as far as skiers, I was shredding with Tashi Miller, Connor Bennett, Jonathan Chandler and Hudson Knoll.
Who were some of your biggest influences back then? It was some of the local older skiers that I got to see in person and in the Rage Film movies. Tim Durtschi, Sammy Carlson, Mark Dvorak, and Brandon Varner. I learned a lot from watching those guys ski and later getting to ski along with them.
Your dad is a skier and artist. You’ re a skier and artist! Does the apple fall far from the tree? The apple doesn’ t fall far from the tree haha. I guess I’ m a chip off the ole block.
Did your dad play a big part in your early days of skiing? Yeah I owe a lot to him. From having ski movies around and always being very motivated to ski with me on the bunny hill. He and my mom were always very supportive of what I wanted to do and never made me do anything I didn’ t want to, unless it was homework and chores...
What music is playing in your ear buds while you cruise the mountain or do you ski without?
If I’ m mobbing the park or all mountain at Bachelor I’ m definitely running some earbuds! My music is a pretty wide variety. Ranging from reggae, hip-hop and metal with an occasional electronic track in there. Old school
hip hop has always got me hyped to ski.
How did you handle going to school during the winter months? Were you always staring out the window thinking about fresh powder?
I did not handle it very well. School was second to skiing for me which, as I have grown older, I regret not taking it more seriously. I took a couple online courses which where hard to be disciplined on, but allowed more time to be on the
