Cyclocross

Cyclocross is a winter sport with its Nationals January 2018 in Reno, NV
Ava Lilley
15-year-old Bend High Sophomore Ava Lilley, has everybody in the bike scene taking a look at her explosive improvements. As Ava finishes up cross season, she is already ski racing for Bend High where she is always on the podium. Looking strong for a podium at nationals and pushing pro women all over the north west. Ava has no competition in her age group so she lines up with the elite
Lance Haidet
Raised in Bend and now 20 years old, Lance Haidet now lives in San Luis Obispo and attends Cuesta College. He is the reigning U23 National Cyclocross Champion. This fall, Lance won his first major pro race.( West Sacramento Cyclocross Grand Prix) The race was a UCI Pro cyclocross race in Sacramento, CA.

women come race day. Nationals will be different, there will be some strong competition there, but could possible become Bend’ s first girl national champion.
Lance will race all over the US then head to Europe for the World Cup calendar in Zeven, Germany. Then back to the US to rest over the holidays and then prepare to defend his national title in Reno.

Cameron Beard
Cameron graduated Summit High School last June and has been very busy ever since. He has bounced back and forth from Europe a few times, racing in Belgium, Germany, Holland, France and other counties. Cameron is presently in college in Tucson, AZ and training with the team there. He will be racing cyclocross this winter racing in U23 and dabbling in a few pro races when his schedule allows.
Ryder Uetrecht
Summit high school 15 year old sophomore Ryder Uetrecht riding has blossomed quickly. He’ s one of the top junior mountain bike and cross bikers in the country. Ryder’ s been on many podiums as a junior, but it’ s when he’ s racing in mens elite and pro is where people start to notice. Racing in Wisconsin, California, Kentucky, Washington and in Oregon this cross season. He’ s had some bad luck at nationals in the past but is looking to grab a nationals podium in Reno.
Henry Jones
Henry Jones, has been on fire this cross season. He has stepped on to five podiums this cross season in the men’ s elite category and has been top 10 in every race. Only 17 and a Bend High Junior, at the Bend Cross Crusade he was top ten both days with some strong pro racers in the field. Henry is looking for a podium in January at cross nationals in Reno.

Bend Endurance Academy
BEA’ s cycling program headed by Bill Warburton has shown steady growth in numbers each year. Former and current national ranked youth racers have come through the program. Coaches in the BEA program are a dedicated bunch.
The BEA team going to nationals in Reno is deep and ranges from 11 to 17; they will be highly competitive come January. Adults from Bend will also be racing at Nationals as well as BEA coaches are know for placing well in a large field.
