10 2019 PHOTO ISSUE Meet the Photographers Asa Silver | pages 12-13 Kyle Schenk | pages 24-25 Asa Silver is 15 years old but has an eye and appreciation for photography well be- yond his years. His love of outdoor sports and the natural world has taken him well past the average outdoor enthusiast with a GoPro. Asa is deeply dedicated to his craft and is carving out a future that is well beyond his years. Although he’s mainly behind the lens, he can rip the ski hill and bike trails with the best of his peers. His next move is perfecting his turns on the Bend river wave and in the ocean. Kyle Schenk is an Oregon native and has been in Bend for seven years after leaving the United States Navy. His time spent in Bend has consisted of attending OSU- Cascades, working as a fly fishing guide for Fly and Field Outfitters, and most recently starting Troutdoors Marketing and Media. He focuses on social media management and content creation. When not in Bend attending the COCC college program for high school students, he is traveling shooting mountain biking and other extreme sports. During the summer, he is on assignment for the US Pro Water Ski Tour as it travels around the states. In Bend, you can find Jesse at the Les Schwab Amphitheater photo pit, snapping away at famous musicians. When he just wants to be a kid you can find him ripping up Bend trails, surfing at the coast with a tight group of friends. Skateboarding and snowboarding naturally drew Ross to photography. He started out shooting goofy videos of friends with whatever gear he could get his hands on and is now grateful for the opportunities to capture moments with some of the most talented skaters & snowboarders on the west coast. There is so much commitment involved to get that “one” photo that lives on in people’s memories. These photos make a statement about the natural beauty in which we live in. Peter shoots photos of some of the world’s top snowboarders and skiers and at the same time he is willing to recognize the vast talent of up and coming shredders here in Oregon. The key to getting in front of the Alport lens is motivation and determina- tion. You can not waste any of his time because he is raising a daughter and son. Although, he has produced an incredible body of work, I’m pretty sure he would say raising his children is his greatest accomplishment. Jules Jimreivat is currently based in Bend, Oregon. Navigating the intersection between outdoor spaces, adventure sports, and anthropological place in the natural world, Jules strives to find and create meaning using digital and film photography. As as a professional climber, chemist, and naturalist, Jules’ photographs reflect a desire to communicate the earth’s beauty, fragility and recreational services. You won’t find Caleb on the couch because he loves being outdoors and is often shooting action shots/videos of biking and skiing. When he’s not working to fuel his healthy addiction to the outdoors, school absorbs much of his time. You will not see Caleb at the mall because he is on his bike ripping trails with a tight group of friends. In the colder months, Caleb shreds lines at Mt Bachelor, in the backcoun- try and is always accompanied by a camera for stills or video. Although Bend has everything Caleb needs, his love of traveling outside of Bend and exploring new places has pushed his horizons and aspirations. Will is a photographer & filmmaker based out of Portland, OR. He is a big fan of dogs, pizza, storytelling, the ocean, and wandering around in the woods. He prefers shooting with 35mm and medium format film to slow down his process. Will likes to think of his images as a visual story of his life - filled with the people, places & things that inspire him most. You’ll find him in the “hard to reach” places shooting the many activities he has a passion for. During the winter he produces photos/videos for Mt. Hood Meadows and spends the rest of his time adventuring across the PNW and beyond shooting passion projects with his wife Jess and their dog Freyja. Whether shooting heli-skiing in Alaska or capturing water sports on the Colum- bia River, Richard’s passion for skiing, mountaineering, windsurfing, kiteboarding, mountain biking, and surfing allows him the rare opportunity to position himself in extreme situations and gain immediate access to the action. This includes the WSL Big Wave Surfing Tour. Also a former ER Trauma Nurse and Colorado Ski Patroller, Richard is currently living the dream in Hood River, Oregon.
