32 THOMAS SICKLER I love the river because it’s a new way to enjoy the outdoors and just a new chal- lenge to push my self in and just a great community of people to be around. It’s a really special opportunity to be part of the group that’s really leading the way in what’s possible at our river wave. For now I really have no plans for the future surf-wise but for the wave I think that we can really make a difference and have organized river clean-ups and just be more conservative in how we use the river as it’s not our playground it’s the earth’s gift to us. JUL/AUG 2019 33 GRIFFIN BIANCUCCI The river wave increases my skills to surf in the ocean even though it’s so different. It only takes a few minutes to grab my stuff and bike down there. It’s really cool how everyone that surfs regularly at the wave knows each other, so you’re always in a conversation with at least one person. It’s really nice so you don’t get bored waiting in line. I just want to keep my dad stoked on surfing so he will keep taking me to the coast on weekends and over breaks. CANYON WILCOX I personally love the river wave because it’s a place you can hangout with friends, laugh, and have fun. It’s really special to be a part of something that’s so unique and so far and few between like a free stand- ing river wave. Knowing that there’s only a handful of them in the world is kinda crazy when I stop to think about it, it’s some- thing that I take for granted every time I surf. My only plans for my river surfing in the future is to just get better like my friends who absolutely rip, and to always find ways to have fun. And I would say to ding my board less because I’m really good at that! KAI HUGGIN I enjoy the river wave for multiple reasons. One being how fun it is, the wave doesn’t really get old, and there are always new things to try. Also it is a great training ground for ocean surfing, the feeling of surfing the river wave translates to the ocean. What’s special to me about being part of the scene is the community at the wave. Most people know each other and share interests with one another. My plans for surfing in the future are to keep enjoy- ing the sport and progressing to get better. FYNN DRAGAN I love the river wave because it allows us to surf everyday even though we live in Bend. It’s cool to be part of the scene down there because everybody is really nice. My plans for the future are to surf as much as possible. “IT’S JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS THAT MAKES ME AND A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAPPY” -JACK ROSELL
