38 ART| CHRISTINA McKEOWN Christina McKeown is a watercolor artist based in Hood River, Oregon. She aspires to create art that inspires the community to protect special places like the Cascade Mountains, the Columbia Gorge, and the Owyhee River. All of Christina’s artwork is created from experiences; whether that is a connection she has to a place through personal adventures or through that of a family member, her goal is to share her love of these places with everyone. As an artist of Oregon, Christina is very grateful to have the chance to experience the wilderness through many different sports: whitewater kayaking, backpacking, kiteboarding, telemark skiing, and even multi-day raft trips. Each of these activities is her way to connect with nature and have a stronger connection to the world. Of course, she can’t help but be inspired when playing so she always has her watercolor supplies safely tucked away in a dry bag, just in case she gets the itch to paint. If you happen to find Christina painting on a hiking trail or balancing on a river rock, give a wave or a smile. Let’s all work to enjoy, protect, and respect our beautiful home, we only get one! See you on the river! ETSY Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChristinaMcKeownArt Email: [email protected] Instagram: @christinamckeownart MAR/APR 2019 39
