RESEARCH AND CLINICAL TRIALS
Cardiac Imaging Core Laboratory
Baylor Scott & White Research Institute ( BSWRI ) continues to expand the Cardiac Imaging Core Laboratory Services for the consolidation , tracking and monitoring of data for worldwide clinical research trials . Services include echocardiography , cardiac CT and cardiac MR imaging modalities . Led by Paul Grayburn , MD , FACC , the team helps advance cardiovascular care through data collection and analysis . Analysis is based on American Society of Echocardiology ( ASE ) recommendations for its services and protocols are adapted to specific needs of investigators .

New in fiscal year 2018 is the addition of TOMTEC Arena ( v2.3 ) software . The investment required for this upgrade was significant as the new release is a major modification from the previous version . In addition , special grants were awarded in fiscal year 2018 to the Core Lab team for a Mitral Valve Quality Audit . The purpose of the audit is to gather all essential mitral valve data elements for comprehensive data collection and review . The primary outcome is to achieve operative mortality rates of < 1 % and < 2 % for mitral valve repair and mitral valve replacement , respectively . The secondary outcome is to achieve a mitral valve repair rate of > 95 % for primary degenerative mitral regurgitation due to posterior leaflet prolapse or flail leaflet .
