BAYLOR SCOTT & WHITE HEART AND VASCULAR HOSPITAL – FORT WORTH
Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
On the campus of Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth , Carter Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation provides patients with the opportunity to proceed with their postprocedural healing or cardiac event recovery , as well as assists many patients with the management of their cardiovascular disease . The program is not the typical cardiac rehabilitation program often found associated with cardiovascular care because the clinical team of experts under the medical direction of Sam Nassar , DO , MD , FACC , FACOI , cardiologist and medical director for the program , collaborate to develop very individualized rehabilitation plans . This therapy program has demonstrated that when patients follow the individualized treatment plan , patients often return to work earlier than if not participating in cardiac rehabilitation . And , for most patients , there is a return to a more active lifestyle with the assistance of cardiac rehabilitation .
Participants typically spend six to 12 weeks in cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation , attending three sessions per week . The cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation team draws from a wide array of healthcare professionals , which may include registered nurses , exercise physiologists , respiratory therapists , registered dietitians and physicians .
Growing in size and reputation in fiscal year 2018 , the Carter Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program had more than 7,800 patient treatments than in the prior fiscal year . Patients travel from all over the greater Tarrant and surrounding counties for this program that individualizes treatment and rehabilitation care plans .
