EXPANSION AND ADDITION OF NEW PATIENT ROOMS
In June 2018 , an additional dedicated floor located directly below the current floor and footprint was opened , providing a nursing unit staffed with critical care nurses experienced in the care and treatment of cardiology patients . Located on the fifth floor of Building A on the Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth campus , the additional unit and 25,816 square feet also increased the number of beds for cardiovascular care by 14 beds . Currently , there are 28 patient rooms staffed by a dedicated clinical team with expertise in the care of heart and vascular patients in addition to pre- and post-procedural care areas .
The clinical operations team , along with the medical staff , work closely with the cardiothoracic surgeons and the clinical teams of Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth in the care , treatment and recovery of patients needing cardiac surgery . In fiscal year 2018 , the cardiothoracic program ’ s reported volumes at the hospital combined with the cardiology services program at Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Fort Worth is estimated to have led the Tarrant County market in total number of cardiac cases for any Fort Worth hospital . Through collaborative efforts between the two hospital entities for streamlining processes and closely monitoring quality outcomes and patient experience indicators ,
the Fort Worth cardiovascular program will continue to lead Tarrant County and counties to the west in innovation , research and advancement of complex cardiovascular care .
