ADVANCED HEART FAILURE
Baylor Dallas has expanded its capabilities and quality by helping spearhead a collaborative project with Baylor Scott & White ’ s three other hospitals offering the specialized technology . Processes and techniques have been standardized and a comprehensive manual for patient management has been developed . A streamlined ECMO transfer program , available 24 / 7 , will soon be available to rapidly bring patients to the closest Baylor Scott & White center offering ECMO . Timely action for these critically ill patients is supported through collaborations with regional hospitals for patient transports and with CareFlite ® for helicopter and fixed-wing capabilities . Baylor Dallas is the only North Texas healthcare facility offering transportation for adult patients on ECMO . In addition , the program serves as a training facility for ECMO support to other North Texas facilities .

The Center for Advanced Heart and Lung Disease , a Health Texas Provider Network practice at Baylor Dallas , offers comprehensive services for patients with refractory symptoms . Advanced heart failure cardiologists and transplant surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor Dallas provide an array of services , including the medical management of progressive symptoms , medication optimization , mechanical circulatory support device evaluation and placement , access to clinical trials , and heart transplantation .
Advanced Heart Failure-Related Clinical Trials ( FY18 )
• CVAD Trial — Registry to assess outcomes using a catheter-mounted , LVAD-like device for PCI
• GUIDE-HF — Evaluates heart failure patients with recent heart failure hospitalizations and NYHA II or III or IV and the effectiveness of the CardioMEMS HF System device
• HEART-FID — Randomized placebo-controlled trial of FCM as treatment for heart failure with iron deficiency
• MOMENTUM 3 CAP Clinical Study — Evaluates the safety and effectiveness of the HeartMate III LVAD by demonstrating non-inferiority to the HeartMate II LVAD when used for the treatment of advanced , refractory , left ventricular heart failure
• Reduce LAP-HF — Evaluates the Corvia Medical , Inc . IASD ® System II to REDUCE elevated left atrial pressure in patients with heart failure
• SOPRANO — Assesses the efficacy and safety of Macitentan in patients with pulmonary hypertension after left ventricular assist device implantation
