Volunteers
An important part of the foundation for Baylor Heart and Vascular Services at Dallas is the volunteer program. Each year, men and women, many of them former patients themselves, dedicate their time to serve others by volunteering in various roles throughout the hospital; as a family liaison in the waiting areas during their loved one’ s procedure and recovery, to serving on our Patient and Family Advisor Council which acts as a collaborative to ensure the voice of the patient and family are heard when designing patient educational materials as well as when working on hospital improvement processes.
Volunteers throughout the Baylor downtown campus have contributed more than 4,000 hours in fiscal year 2016 to serve heart and vascular patients and their loved ones during their hospital stay and through their recovery and rehabilitation process. Celebrating our volunteers is a joy.
During this past fiscal year, Bob Howard was awarded Volunteer of the Year, being celebrated for his outstanding dedication in serving two days a week in the family waiting area as well as being an active member of the Patient and Family Advisor Council. A volunteer for the past three years at Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital, Bob’ s dedication to helping cardiovascular patients and families is appreciated by all.
